“ 国民の3人に1人が花粉症と言われる時代に、いまだ補助金を出して杉の植林を続けている。花粉症に苦しむ国民の立場からすれば、30年以上前に植林した杉を伐採して雑木林に戻せばいいだけの話。そんな簡単な解決法ですら林野庁の役人には発想できない。それどころか、スギ花粉の予報システムをつくったり、花粉を出さない杉の研究を大学に委託するのが仕事だと思っているのだから、滑稽ですらある。杉の老木をすべて切れば3000万もの票につながる、という発想さえない。
